The ant originated in South America and was used to a super harsh environment. Europeans accidentally brought it on their ships and took it to other environments that had no predator adapted for it. The bugs dominated and became a large nuissance.
It has colonies in Texas, Mexico, Northern Europe, and maybe Australia? It originated around Argentina (I think)
