Bahamas-flagged Russian vessels subject to sanctions will likely be stripped of their flags, the Bahamas Maritime Authority said.

In its alert, the BMA urged Russian shipowners and operators to be aware of significant sanctions risks, stating that "Should any Bahamian ship be sanctioned by the USA, EU, UK, or The Bahamas itself, the likely outcome is removal from the register."

The Bahamas operates one of the world's largest ship registries, and a number of tankers and yachts from Russia have been registered in it.
