Catching up to Shadow, you don’t see anything different. But you do feel a tension in the air, not the same tension as a before. Hm, you’ll need to start distinguishing between all of these, later, later.
You descend further and further. Tension rising all the while up until the girls stop.
You don’t see a difference, nor any sort of threshold, but they clearly do.
The stand, unmoving focused on something intangible. You try to focus, but while you feel something, you have no clue what to take away from it.
Jacky sighs, annoyed.
“Anger”
Shadow turns to you.
“Do your powers relate to getting angry? Making other people angry? Anything like that?”
Do you? Your magical constitution doesn’t seem related at all. You don’t think Rush makes you angry per say. Vitality is pretty aggressive, but you’re not sure it could be described as ‘angry’.
Maybe your… what do you call it? Taking away from others, giving unto you? Tax? Theft? Drain? Doesn’t matter, names later. Drain for now.
Well, it can probably take away and make it fuel you, but you’re not sure if it counts? So…
“I mean, maybe? I can drain what drives others and get it myself. And last time I checked, anger drives a lot.”
Shadow considers for a moment.
“The connection seems tenuous, but if you can absorb what other have, we can test it pretty easily who’s closer then we actually have the core.”
“Core?”
“You’ll see.”
You send her an unimpressed look, but Leader takes over before you can continue further.
“The barrier’s size is minute, when we penetrate, an enemy will be near. As long as you do not hesitate, everything will go smoothly. But as I have to all others, I shall offer you.”
She raises her hands openly. The other two take a step back, your eyes narrow.
From Leader’s wrists and fingers unveil silver ribbons, dozen per hand. And they start weaving. Glowing as they do. Brighter. Brighter. You feel a tug in your mind, your heart, deeper. The glow stabilizes, the tug becoming an insistent pull.
From the others, you see a glow, centered around the upper back of their necks, but spreading both lower and higher. Their feet braced, as if the pull was a physical force.
Leader continues, as if she never stopped.
“All suffer. But we cannot die. I make sure that you will suffer less by avoiding the cause. And any afflictions suffered will be lessened for yourself.”
The light lessens, what lies in between her hands is a small woven bug. Smaller than your palm.
“All I ask of you is to stay your hand for harm on others carrying such protection. And *never*” Her voice sharpens, pain momentary passes your ears. “attempt to land a killing blow on the same.”
Well?
>Accept. Safety does sound nice, you suppose.
>Reject. You would like to keep your options open, safety or not.
