This is very helpful, both for the recommendations and the insight. Even if I perhaps go with Mothership or Delta Green I'll see if I can't salvage stress dice.
I'll make sure to rewatch Sharpe and see if anything from the Falklands strike me, I think that could be a fun bit of space politics.
For frame of reference I've definitely been looking to the Raj and Boer Wars to see if anything jumps out.
