White vans taking illegals off the streets is surely intentional even though in absolute numbers it's meaningless. This is because it makes illegals scared, encouraging some to self-deport and discouraging others from coming in the first place. If EU wanted to stop 'refugee' boats, they could learn of such showy tactics, and they could just sink one or two of their boats. It would instantly discourage 99 % from even trying, and the overall death toll would actually dramatically decrease.
