I have always assumed this phenomenon is due to the way emotions and feelings are expressed to people growing up, where men typically feel like they receive less love and emotion openly than women do, so they enjoy it more when they do feel it, and women are more emotionally nurtured from a younger age as they grow up, so they are attracted to the opposite because it's a different experience

I don't know if there's evidence to back that up, but it's sorta an idea I've always had
