Something that struck me as intensely beautiful when I booted this game up from a Korean studio is the opening message.

There's a reverence baked into the game because, in lieu of attempting to represent factions of identity, it seeks to represent the the truth of life that's portrayed in Pinocchio. Sure, it takes liberties with the director's more modern, personal taste, but these Koreans were so enthralled with the source material and tried to honor it. Carlo's puppet is a blue eyed European. They didn't try to fucking say "WELL GEPPETTO COULD HAVE CARVED ANY SORT OF KID HE WANTED! PAINTED HIM ANY COLOR! HE COULD HAVE BEEN ASIAN LIKE US!"

They made him look like the dead, Caucasian son of Geppetto, because there's a beauty and heartache of a man who has to live with his worst mistakes, and a reincarnated son who wants to save him. Could they have made them both Asian? Sure, but the game wasn't about them. It was dedicated to Carlo Collodi, an Italian author.

Troons just look at these games and movies like it's some sort of amusement park ride meant to entertain and affirm their self-images. It's absurd. They call the spirit to higher things, help us confront grief and ourselves, and help us work out what the right thing is.
