PM fans used to pride themselves on being the "schizos" of the gaming sphere, a title that they used to build rapport with other fanbases like E.Y.E and Black Souls. The issue is that LobCorp and LoR were actually good games and had a lot of themes, elements and stories that could be discussed so the issue of pretending to be schizos was mitigated by that. Limbus, however, not only catapulted that popularity that started with LoR but it also doesn't have nearly as much depth as they earlier two games with much worse gameplay thanks to its gacha mechanics. This, combined with the fact that the gacha userbase tend to cannibalize themselves and infect other games led to a quick downfall where all you have are the epic memers and people who see pretending to be mentally ill schizoids makes them fringe and different. Add onto that the PM fanbase's unbreakable urge of plastering their in-jokes everywhere they go and you've got a disaster that not even the most stringent gatekeepers can prevent.
