I'm not sure that's the case for Executor. Chapters 4 and 7 make it pretty clear they are two people inhabiting one vessel, and the journal entries differ from perspective in certain chapters - fragments of memories melding together. Whatever the reason for her execution, maybe painters are dangerous to Marika's Order, or maybe it's just that the painter was an outsider, it seems like their souls fused after death because of their mutual admiration for the Erdtree.
