Imagine creating a deuteragonist and announcing to the world that you intentionally made him "cute" to draw out some of the protagonist's personality.

Then had said deuteragonist essentially almost propose to the MC when they meet with him saying shit like "That day, I met a samurai who lit my helpless existence on fire" and "I need a samurai in my life! I need YOU!"

Then set up a running joke of said deuteragonist being dog-like in how he responds to the protagonist calling his name, getting talked about like a mad guard dog by the rival character, and even SMELLING IDENTICAL to the protagonist for no clear reason.

Then soulmate coded them with A and Un imagery.

Then have neither of them be close to any girls their age (that are still alive).

AND go so far as to make it clear that the deuteragonist sees the MC in the same way he saw the girl who set him on the right path.

And even though the MC rarely thinks about other characters, we just HAD to know that he wanted to become stronger for his deuteragonist's sake by becoming the "samurai" the guy said he needed.

And again, never interact with any girls in anywhere close to the same way.
