It's an extended story telling format. It's really impossible to say how it's going to play out in the end. You can say stuff like "THerta and her hijinks comprise 90% of the relevant information for Amphoreus but 0.1% of the storyline" but that could easily change with a single patch. You're just going to have to wait for it to finish.
I personally find myself wanting each patch to go further and further despite already getting a solid 8 hours of story telling. I think it's actually a good thing for a story to leave you wanting more of it for each installment.
