2005 was honestly kind of a shitty time, too. Culture was hollow and leaned heavily on romanticizing the 80s and intentional ironic shittiness, everything was too expensive, and there was never anything to do if you lived outside of a city. I was a teenager then, we did nothing but walk down to the park and wish we had cars, wait for a turn on the computer, and stay up late to catch Adult Swim. You never had any Myspace notifications and your favorite websites were never updated and /b/ was just cat memes. My older brother who moved out rented a trailer home in the ghetto with three friends and basically just watched broadcast TV and the same three DVDs over and over on a 13" screen or played San Andreas without a memory card on the one PS2 they all shared. I don't think they even had phone service there, let alone high speed internet or dial-up. I distinctly remember talking with my friends and wondering if anyone was ever going to be nostalgic about the times we were living in, because the 80s were so big then, and it seemed absurd.
