Now he's not a long time human detective with friends, who are all getting scared and nervous because the once easily identifiable replicants are now indistinguishable from humans. He's not overcoming prejudices, seeing their value, considering them human instead of discardable robots, and falling in love with someone he would have easily killed days earlier without caring. He's not seeing their strong desire to live and rekindling his own after becoming so inhuman himself he was just drinking his life away as fast as possible. Now he's just a robot that woke up two days ago that was made as weak as possible and sent after four super strong robots so they could kick his ass repeatedly then he could escape. All for no reason, and no benefit to the story. All for nothing except BET YOU DIDN'T EXPECT THAT TWIST DID YA?! There's I spoon fed you.
