FGO at least gives lots of screentime to new characters and they often work on existing characters like Camelot having alternative versions of Arturia, Lancelot, Gawain, etc. It's not just working on an existing mythology but existing Fate versions of that mythology we already seen in past media. This also means they can focus on them or new characters like Agravain we've never seen before and still fit and have space for all. Some of these arcs if you just dumped players into without any of this past context, they would have select characters be woefully underdeveloped.
