If he wants Ukraine to hold elections, then it is the way to go.
Russia could even offer a temporary ceasefire.

And if Zelensky refuses, then the US can always refer to his term limits.
In the end, the US doesn't have the goods to send.
Any excuse to stop while saving face and blaming the other is a win.

Statistically it is most likely.
Our governments, as well as Ukraines, are doing everything they can to pretend to be Russians online and sow distrust against the system.
That's why I mention the narratives.

The idea that we see of carving up Russia now is the same idea that was actively pursued in the 90s, and groups were funded by the west at the time.
Things were bad, but they could have gone completely down the drain with any other leader.
