I do really fucking hate Dragonball but Dragonball is cooler than DBZ which I've grown to hate even though I was obsessed with it as a pre-teen. It's just a horribly written show full of filler and bullshit, the fights are overrated. I'll watch literally any other anime that premiered in the US at that time over it other than maybe Tenchi Muyo which is fucking gay to watch
