They already explained it in the One-Day Talanton side quest where the main character of that story is a mirror to Phainon. The cycles use different characters that go through different paths in life but important events unfold the same nonetheless. Both Phainon and Flamereaver are not the same person but are vessels for one soul, Khaslana. This is why Phainon is always referred to as the prefect the vessel for divinity and the Flamereaver having a bunch of clones to spam. The side quest touches on the conflicting duality of these individuals and the original soul that these individuals are bound to. Quite frankly everything besides Aedes Elysiae is irrelevant to Khaslana but for Phainon and the vessels their values might not be the same as their experience is vastly different from his.
