GW also didn't hold press conferences crying about how someone made fun of him on TV or in a magazine; he just didn't give a fuck. It was rhetoric, but when he spoke of Americans, he praised all of them and at least encouraged a unified American identity, regardless of the usual puppeteers around him steering things.
