The heresy of dispensationalism was invented by a Catholic Jesuit priest named Manuel Lacunza. He was a part of the Papalist Counter-Reformation and he wanted to end Protestantism.
Do you know what is so ironic about this? Despite his anti-Protestant views, his dispensationalist ideology would be picked up by Protestants in the 19th century such as John Nelson Darby and Cyrus Scofield. Today it is the dominant view among Protestant evangelicals, and most of them probably don't even know where it comes from!
