Pretty true actually, because Punk was originally a response to the Hippie Movement, whereas hippies were all seen as druggie losers that did nothing but gesture and virtue signal, Punk was intended to be a more pro-active version of hippies, which meant they were meaner, born out of DIY late 60s Garage Bands, and did more shit like graffiti walls and culture jam instead of just sit in fields and smoke pot all day. That's also why Punk attracted people from both the Left and the Right because both responded to Hippies in a similar way, the Left was full of Tankies that thought the hippies were too liberal and the right was full of neo-nazi skinheads that also thought the hippies were too liberal.
Basically anything that came after the initial wave in the 70s and 80s aren't real punks, they're just posers that stole their aesthetics
