My Patlabor confession is that I watched movie 2 before New Files, and that this was not a mistake because I was suicidal at the time, so the end of the whole thing being the end of the New Files hit me pretty hard.

I have never seen anyone do this. Not "just watch that scene and pretend to understand Patlabor while not getting it", though, plenty of people do that.
