“SON. REAPA.” Cocoa’s voice yells out at her in the tone that makes it clear she would have used a middle name too if the kid had one (should... probably consider that some day). It’s enough to genuinely startle her, the girl stumbling and nearly falling off the statue, having to grab on to its head. Your girlfriend marches on closer to the confused girl. “Now you listen here young lady!” she huffs, placing her hands on her hips as she stares the very confused Reapa down. “She has been trying for months to even just get your attention, and you aren’t even going to give her a single moment to hear her out?”
The shocked look on her face makes it clear that she both isn’t used to being scolded and yet mildly confused as to why she isn’t trying to escape anyway. “But…” she tries to mumble out.
“No ‘buts’ young lady.” Cocoa cuts off, wagging her finger. “Now you are going to sit down right there and listen to her.” She points at the base of the statue… and Reapa actually listens and does just that.
You take a couple steps closer, but Reapa shoots you a glare before you get too close. You hold your hand over your heart and smile gently at her. “Reapa… I really am sorry that I left you like that. I didn’t know, genuinely, and… yet, I still set us off on the wrong foot when we did meet. If you’re going to consider me your ‘papa’ then I’ll accept that, but in turn, I ask that you please let me be a parent to you. Let the both of us be parents to you.” You gesture at Cocoa with your other hand, with her walking toward you and holding yours with hers. “I know it might not be easy starting off… but I do want the best for you. Okay?”
“Peppa and I talked about it quite a lot.” she confirms, now much sweeter and more welcoming. “I know how things have been, how alone you must have felt. And if you think of her as your papa, then I’m gonna try to be there for you as your mama. If you’ll let that come to pass.”
She… blushes, then pouts at you. “Gonna need more than words for me to really believe that.” She places her fingers on her forehead again.
“Reapa.” Cocoa’s voice calls to her, still a sweetness in her tone but much more strict again. “We are not done with this conversation.”
“Probably not. Buuuut I’m also not gonna have it now. So. Bleh!” she responds quickly as she sticks her tongue out at the two of you, yet under her breath… she lets out an almost but not quiet silent, and yet much more genuine, “Sorry mama…”
