The Traveler is definitely gonna have an abyssal form where they use all of the abyss energy they've "purified"/absorbed so far, right? Maybe hoyo was saving a good kit for that, and the elemental versions of them are deliberately shit because elemental energy is just a fundamentally weak power source.
