in alberta they live in absolute poverty. most live on the reserves which have a local government that is incredibly corrupt. they used to have their own police on these reserves but they turned into literal highwaymen and needed the mounties to come in armed to get them out.
they are given free houses from the government and if it gets too old or they dont like it, just burn it down and get a new one for free. so many houses have been torched this way that the numbering of the houses on the res are all fucked and seemingly random because they are numbered in order built and not a sequence in a row. murder and rape is so common in these open gate prisons that the ratio of squad cars to population is multiplicatively higher than anywhere else in the country.
the ones that get kicked off the reserve usually end up homeless and alcoholics who steal a bottle from liquor stores daily whose clerks are told to write it down and ignore them. they kept dying from drinking rubbing alcohol so that is not on any store shelves anywhere and you need to ask a manager to buy some. hand sanitizer also works as a buffer to stop the shakies so generally only bottles with a huge ALCOHOL FREE label on them are stocked. covid was a weird time because the initial public hand sanitizer in all the pumps had alcohol so these fuckers would sit there pumping it in their mouth because it was bolted to the wall.
we had our chance to shoot them but instead kept them as government pets nobody trained.
