From the other side, the dolls are programmed to depict the ideal of what humans perceive or would like themselves to be (a perfect singer, a perfect waitress, a perfect soldier), being in a sense more human than humans, while not allowed to see themselves as such. There is a lot of space to talk about human condition in this tension between the implicit and the explicit.

Every Yoko Taro game has a theme. Drakengard 1 for example is about badness, which is why it's a dogshit game. Nier is about vanity, which is why most of what you do in it is pointless. Automata is about fakeness, about how being artificial and being genuine is not mutually exclusive. So 2B gets to have a fat ass while being intellectually profound.
