its not a real pikmin game. in fact it feels like it resents pikmin and wishes it wasnt a pikmin game. it's all about the stupid dog oatchi who steals the spotlight and trivializes the entire game, singlehandedly fixing all the weaknesses of pikmin, like letting the pikmin group up and avoid hazards by riding on it, or letting them cross water by riding on it, or charging enemies and putting your entire squad onto it at once instead of having to throw any of them
theres no thought anymore. they made it too accessible. you press the dog buttons and then you win. where is the fun? theres no challenge
not to mention it absolutely butchers the story of the series. it makes the "bad ending" of 1 CANON and it nearly outright retcons 2 and 3 into not having happened, or at least putting them into a weird position of both having happened and not happened. the timeline got fucked up by it and for what? it didnt even continue the wraiths storyline that 2 and 3 introduced and put into the forefront.

yeah very dumbed down and very trivialized by oatchi. awful game. i tried playing it with mods that disabled most oatchi features and it was still awful
