it didn't become "normal" to leave home at a young age until post ww2, it's a boomer lifestyle trait that only existed because of an insane economic growth period that no longer exists and cannot be sustained anymore. anyone telling you to move out at 18 and live on your own with no familial support is brainwashed by this mentality. for 99.9% of human history living with your extended family and having multi-generational households was the norm.
