thanks but the intention wasn't to pull my punches, that drawing was just the last thing I had drawn then. maybe it's worth pushing it further and throw some colors at it after all

yeah those shadows are much better imo. probably because the reflected light is dim enough to keep the shadows dark
I feel your rendering is overall quite nice but the faces are holding your drawings back. I still think a more mecha-like face with no mouth would go hard
