So the main problem I'm having with that argument (and this should answer you both) is that Palestinians do use these kinds of claims (see picrel) before saying they “were always there”.
But in reality the people who were living there in ancient times didn’t call themselves Palestinians, didn’t speak Arabic, and didn’t follow Islam, because none of these things existed yet.
So if they claim to be ancient Hebrews that only puts them in direct contradiction with modern Jews who still follow a much closer religion and speak the same language.
