No, I think you guys are overestimating the SoL. Probably because the prose is quite good (I did forget to praise it). As a reminder, this is what you're praising:

The only reason anyone would say that majority of it was good is if they really liked the parts about raising a baby/toddler, which is an opinion, but also nearly all of the worldbuilding surrounding that was copy-pasted from Earth, even the US, because of the medical bills.
