A few months ago I finished the remaster of the mass effect trilogy
A thing that stood out for me is how the planets in the first mass effect game didn’t feel like they were designed with human habitation or even the habitation of most life in mind
These places are not for you and weee not meant for you
Gameplay wise they were boring but visually they were stunning
Planet descriptions were also surprisingly well written and felt like thousands of real planets that astronomers have discovered
The loneliness of 1 that really wasn’t matched by the other mass effects and with the realistic planet descriptions inspired some ideas in me for a longer running traveler like mothership or death in space campaign
Worlds similar to an asteroid or our moon are the easy ones
There are places people have managed to set foot on with vechiles and space suits that no man was ever meant to tread
Simply because of the uncaring nature of the cosmos and that our garden cradle was the exception not the norm, for a start look up what it would be like trying to step foot on some of the planets in our solar system
Players would be desperately trying to maintain a ship making jumps between Outland systems as stops on a long journey
that many have set foot on and have launched a mirad of probes or struck up temporary residence in these places for their bounties but only a few have stuck around in these vast reaches to call them home
