But I believe there are two main school of thought

I have metal sonic as an example this. Metal sonic is not sonic the hedgehog but he looks and can move in a similar way. Maybe Cathy and Dave we're such great soldiers they got very expensive robots inspired by how they fight. Point is in this school of thought Dave is not Plungerman, Cathy is not the Camerawoman and Takuma Haskashita is not Scientist tv man but merely inspired by their work and the contributions they could provide in an ageless robot body.
