Except when joking, most french people (those who give a shit about history anyway) are in fact thankful of Britain for the World Wars, especially the First when our ancestors fought in the same trenches. Then again, I guess with the situation being what it is today it's questionable wether fighting the Germans was a good idea at all, at least in the Second one.
I agree about the cuisine, except Alpine cuisine, it's delicious and actually simple, unlike the pretentious chef shit.
