The Middle East conflict and its escalation are obviously one of the key global topics right now. How the conflict will unfold, how long it will last, whether the United States will intervene, will influence not just the region - this will have an impact for the future of the world. The future security and international law system that will be formed later, will be impacted by this war.

It's no secret that Russia is observing the situation, and is making conclusions for itself.
Russia's main interest and hope are that this conflict sets precedent of the possible use of nuclear weapons.

Putin has already opened Pandora's box with the full-scale war and capturing foreign territory. However, he prefers to always use the international precedent to justify his actions: others did that, so I can do the same.

Putin is never the first, he uses international cases as grounds for his actions, so he can say: I'm acting on a precedent.

Putin justified his international law violations in Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Crimea with the Kosovo "precedent." "If they did that in Kosovo, why can't Russia do the same?" is Russia's formal justification.

The current situation is extremely dangerous: if nuclear weapons are used in the Middle East conflict, this will open up the path for Russia to launch nuclear strikes on Ukraine. Same with heavy shelling of civilian cities and civilians - Putin will be able to say: then why can't Russia do this, why are we condemned for that?
