Compared to the non-entities of Rebecca/Carrot/Tama, but that's not a high bar. I'm glad Yams is not joining the crew, just not enough going on under the hood. I thought her clash with Kaido was probably the peak of my interest in Yamato, but nothing really seemed to come at all of Kaido's warning on the nature of pirates/his insistence that they were "oni" and fundamentally separate from humanity. What's up with that Oda?
