Him being able to make sand clones of himself in the past doesn't really need to be explained if he can do all that other shit I guess.
Or the fact that he has like brain damage is maybe him sacrificing his own memories for the powers? They put thought into things like why Den-Os belt has the same colors as the Imagins that possess him so maybe this was all thought of at one point.
