It's not about whether you can clear content without Klukai or not. It's about powercreep and its potential to make gameplay less fun.
I actually recorded my last 2 gunsmoke runs so I can actually post results. Klukai alone does as much damage as whole burn team. Granted, Kluk is v6 and my QJ is v3. With Mechty support she does as much as another good combo of Springfield v1 + Tololo v3 or 4.
