i was trying to politic a bit. i personally think it's worth the money despite not liking it much at all. as a new player you'll probably get plenty of enjoyment from it.

most or all of my friends who were new to the franchise outwardly enjoyed themselves, but eventually fell off the game. so you'll probably have some fun. it feels like a lot of concessions were made to reach a wider audience, but most of them are misfires to me as someone who put a lot of time into world. the game is also one of the worst optimized things i've ever seen on pc.

I'd say just get world. it's a lot more complete a package because of all the updates, added monsters, and the expansion. OG monster hunter players who pretend the older entries in the series are fun will recommend one of the even-older games.
