What's wrong with find familiar?
>The reason you might not want to learn all spells is because in BG2 you get significantly more xp for learning spells. So you could get an enormous xp boost just by having Imoen chug a bunch of thievery potions and steal every spell scroll in the shop.
I might do as you say, since it's only really spell that would be more useful in edwins hands during the final sarevok battle.
