Whoever is the showrunner for this is probably a fan that wants to stroke their own ego. They're too arrogant to realize that every live-action adaptation of an already iconic / great animated work will never live up to it in terms of greatness.
The animated medium is liberating: you can do anything that can be shown on a screen.
Live-action though, it's always a step down: you're constrained by real actors and real materials.
The only exception when readapting an animated work, IMO, is when you also do it in another animated work (picrel).
