MBAACC is just a higher damage game. You will often see 4K or more, meterless, from a 2A starter. In Lumina 4K meterless requires some of the stronger regular starters like an air CH or a special move hitting. 2A will get to 4k or just above only after spending meter in most cases.
AACC's combo system is evolved from a basic one where 2A 2B 5B 2C 5C jBC jBC throw was once the universal optimal combo. That style of combo can still do decent damage on a great majority of the cast. Lumina was built from the ground up for longer, more complex combos with special moves, so doing a basic combo with only normals does a lot less damage. If you compare the individual damage of normals, MBAACC has around 1.5x the damage.
