"Anyway, I heard that kitsune don't trust humans too much... that means you must be an adventurer hero type of guy that saved them all, right?"

"Only if it makes sense in the moment." You smile.

"Huh?" She blinks. "Ok... so, uh," She fidgets. "I was meaning to ask you, will you-"

"Master." Ayane gracefully comes by. "I have been able to contact Todred, and he would be willing to meet with you." She glances at the elf you're talking to, then back to you. "Have I come at an inopportune time?"

"Not at all." You reassure your vixen. "Ayane, this is Aila. Aila, this is Ayane."

"Hi. You're John Doe's kitsune wife?" The elf asked.

"Indeed I am." Ayane said.

"Wait a second." A thought seemed to have crossed Aila's mind. "You're that same kitsune I saw back when John Doe saved me. Does that mean all those other women were his wives? Even that Feligyptian catgirl?"

"Yeah, pretty much." You said.

"Master!" Herta bounced by, the rest of your wives following behind the goddess. "The presentation is gonna start!"

"Bertha is savin' us some chairs, guv." Cattleya meowed.

"Hi everyone! I'm Aila." Said Aila.

"Hmm." Herta squinted at her, tilting her head. Then she turned to you. "Are you gonna marry her, Master?"

"W-what?" Aila seemed stunned as she looked at Herta.

"Maybe." You replied. "Depends on what happens. I don't really see any reason not to have her, currently."

"H-huh!?" Aila's head snapped back towards you.

"I mean, I at least want to be her friend." You continued.

"Thank you???" Aila blinked, flustered.

"I think you should marry her, Master." Herta nodded her head. "Master should have tons of women adore that him."

"W-wait! Hold on, isn't this going a little too fast?" Aila became rather animated. "And this place is too public! And I'm roya- I mean, this place isn't romantic enough!"

"I assure you," Ruby Rose said with a grin, "That my Master is the perfect gentleman. He knows how to treat a woman."

"And how to put her in her place." Gerty added.

"Alright, girls, that's enough." You said. "The lecture is gonna start, and I'm not gonna have us miss another one."

"Well said, my love." Ayane said. "Besides, it'd be cruel if we left Bertha to listen to it all alone."

And with that, you all entered the lecture hall. Bertha waved at you all— next to her a comically large hammer taking more than a few seats. As you all get settled, she shoves her hammer into the bag of holding and let you all sit by, and greets Aila as the elf got a chair close to yours.

Students filled most of the crowd— that was expected— but you found some people that looked like scientists and mages, and, most interestingly, some kitsune clustered in some seats here and there. You recognize a few faces from Aneko's funeral. After mentioning it to Ayane, your kitsune wife said that these kitsune were some distant cousins of hers that likely came here because they had some free time. She greeted them earlier in passing, but nothing more.
