The Douay-Rheims is based based on the Council of Trent. Many equivocally think it uses the Septuagint for the Old Testament, but that is mostly wrong - it uses Hebrew for the Protocanon (why else would Saint Jerome camp out in a cave in Bethlehem for years) - but it does use the Septuagint for the books of the Deuterocanon that he couldn’t find in Hebrew. The Hebrew also isn’t the Masoretic Text but earlier manuscripts that lacked the vowel pointing system called Nikkud which sort enforces an interpretation on the choice of word even if it is deliberately left ambiguous without it, such as whether the Messiah was to be born to a “virgin” or “young woman” in Isaiah 7:14.
My point is, as per Divino Afflante Spiritu, the papal encyclical written by Pope Venerable Pius XII concerning Holy Scripture, there should be translations into the vernacular. In this case, Modern Hebrew. Whether or not you like the Novus Ordo, a vernacular translation is essential for that Holy Mass. So my question still stands.
