I think this narrative undersells the willingness of dutch and later english rulers to cooperate with the jews to create the financial world, these were protestant states who viewed themselves closer to jews than catholics and had grand ambitions to defeat france and spain, who were much stronger and bigger than england and the netherlands, finance was a way for these smaller european states to dominate their larger rivals overseas. England and the netherlands sold their souls for a compact with the devil, or jews, to become competitive global powers, they weren't subverted, they consented to the rise of judaism in finance.
