I'd argue it's the most realistic dystopian novel, and to be fair it is more of a power fantasy like how a fantasy novel would typically be. William Luther Pierce himself admitted it wasn't the best. I have yet to read them but I do think Hunter (Also by Pierce) and Camp of the Saints are a lot better and feel like actual novels.
