“Another thing. I’ve managed to do some light scouting. Operation Havoc's destination was a big datacore. For Augur, we'll be visiting one that has multiple little partitions instead.”

“What does that mean for the mission?” Liza asks.

“There are going to be points where only a limited amount of Digimon or Users can enter. Excessive bloat, caused by too many Rookies, or the presence of a Champion, could brick the partition and slow everything down. So you’ll need to take file size into account this time.”

”What?!” Phascomon cries, outraged.

Kaus Gammamon looks down at his claws in mild surprise. An inscrutable expression crosses his face. Wind reaches out to lightly pat him on the shoulder in response to his silent musing.

“How will we know where these partitions are?”

“You’ll be able to check before moving to a new one. I couldn’t scout for long. But there are a LOT inside. The theory about it doubling as a storage unit seems right, if they’re sequestering data away like this.”

“I see…”

That’s bad news for you. Phascomon’s Champion form is a major advantage. You fought hard for it. Now there’s something deeply infuriating about being unable to use it freely. You suppose you should have prepared for this, you learnt of the concept the moment you entered Doc’s lab and felt the heat produced by four Kokuwamon. Hopefully it’s not TOO small inside. And it should hamper your enemies just as much as you.

You keep listening, until you finally reach the schedule. Wind begins discussing assigning body doubles once again, and then concludes with the estimated time of completion.

“-and that’s the timeline. We want to be out before our VPNs expire. If they do… I’m sorry. You can’t come back here.”

The meeting room goes silent again.

“Remember. This is bigger than any one person. I won’t have somebody dooming this whole operation. Any last questions?”

There are many, almost all centered around network conversion, and Squid takes joy in answering them. It’s about thirty more minutes before the meeting is concluded, and you’re all dismissed to prepare for Operation Augur.
