"Never meet your heroes" saying is so true tho, i was a kid who tried to get an autograph from my childhood hero and the experience probably ruined me, they truly didnt care about me as much as i cared about them, im just glad i had that realization early on.

Yeah society is pretty fucking weird when you have to rub shoulders with other successful people to make it, there just some very vampiric vibe to it.
When i was younger and competing in sports even as in high school football the social aspect mattered more than talent, people who got drafted were the more talented ones and outgoing, a lot of the skilled players like me were put through some humiliation rituals like meet and greets and always compared to jocks who had more connections and success
