I've also grown attached to all the characters in Hibimeshi. Mako and Kurea are also my favorites. I guess it was their first meeting at Kurea's family restaurant in the first episode that sold me on the show.
It was just overflowing with kindness and tenderness, the way Kurea eased Mako's social anxiety and worries, them bonding over the food, seeing Mako making a new friend… they won me over. It was really touching.
