For Christ's sake, this is supposed to be a history board.
In all of this arguing, there had not been a single instance of bringing up an actual historical figure on the subject.
This is William James Sidis. He was believed to be in the IQ range of 250 to 300. There reason why it's not well known how high it was is because he was a known liar.
But, that doesn't discredit why he was recognized as a genius.
He was a child prodigy who graduated Harvard at the age of sixteen. Got into a violent protest advocating for socialism where he sided with the socialists and went to jail for it.
He wrote books where only one of his books anticipated new concepts in astrophysics. He invented a century spanning calender and went after the New Yorker for invading his privacy and mischaracterizing him.
They ended up settling out of court.
He would then die at the age of 36 from a stroke.
He also said he wouldn't bother getting into romantic entanglements for the sake of intellectual pursuit only for him to eventually develop a crush.
So, there you go. Some good being a genius did him.
