Basically this but it goes deeper. There was a group of Germans forming a breakaway civilization developing anti-gravity craft as early as the 1880s. They were behind the Thule society, which was behind the rise of Nazi Germany. The entirety of the Third Reich was basically a resource gathering enterprise for the breakaway civilization, which did manage to survive after the end of WWII.
